He’s a jack of all trades

Niecy Nash-Betts has been in the acting game for nearly 30 years, so better believe she knows what she’s talking about—which is why I was all ears when she spilled the tea on Travis Kelce’s acting skills.

Kelce scored a role opposite Nash-Betts in Ryan Murphy’s new FX horror series, Grotesquerie, marking his first major acting job. So how did he do?

"You know what, I'm pleasantly surprised," Nash-Betts told Entertainment Tonight. "He's doing really well."

Nash-Betts, 54, even dished on what it was like to be a mentor to the Kansas City Chiefs tight end and gave deets on the behind-the-scenes atmosphere: It's actually very chill.

The Emmy-award winner described a typical rehearsal as the duo simply, “sitting around eating In-N-Out reading words off a piece of paper.”

When it comes to whether there were any side chats regarding Kelce’s mega pop star girlfriend Taylor Swift, Nash-Betts remained tight-lipped.

“Well now I don't ask and tell! Let me just say that," she quipped.

News that the 34-year-old NFL player would be joining the Grotesquerie cast was announced in early May. The same day of the reveal, Nash-Betts shared a short video clip of herself with the 6-foot-5 baller along with the caption, “This is what happens when WINNERS link up @killatrav Welcome to Grostequerie!”

Kelce can also be heard excitedly saying, “Jumping into new territory.”

Grotesquerie marks Kelce’s first major acting gig, though he’s had a bit of practice. Remember, he hosted NBC’s Saturday Night Live back in March 2023. And let's not forget his adorable cameo alongside Swift in an episode of the late-night sketch show last fall.

It looks like Kelce plans to keep this new television era going because earlier this year it was confirmed that he will be the host of Prime Video’s new game show, Are You Smarter Than A Celebrity?, a spinoff of the beloved 2007 game show, Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader?

Whether he's on the field or the screen, Kelce is proving he's got game.
