Wait, Did Taylor Swift Basically Copy Her Teen Choice Awards Outfit at the 2019 VMAs?

If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it appears to be Taylor Swift’s new motto when it comes to awards show fashion.

The 29-year-old “Lover” singer made fans do a double-take at last night’s Video Music Awards when she rocked a pants-less look that appeared almost identical to her Teen Choice Awards getup.

Swift hit the red carpet solo (we’re still keeping our fingers crossed for a Joe Alwyn cameo one of these days), wearing a beaded Versace blazer dress with padded shoulders and hot pink, gold, turquoise, orange, green and black accents.

It was definitely more Jennifer Lopez or Britney Spears in the “Circus” era than T-Swift, but the “London Boy” artist has been on a rainbow kick with the arrival of her latest album. Although she left her pants at home, Swift added a little leg coverage by way of black over-the-knee Christian Louboutin thigh-high boots ($2,195). And, as if her minidress wasn’t eye-catching enough, she threw in additional pops of color with Lorraine Schwartz green dangling earrings and an array of rings.

She completed the look with a shaggy waved lob and her signature fire truck red lipstick.

As you may remember, the Cats star selected a very similar rainbow Versace shorts, bodysuit and blazer set for the Teen Choice Awards on August 10.

The print and the structure are nearly identical, right? The main differences are that Swift wore orange Kat Maconie rainbow lace-up booties ($187) instead of over-the-knee boots and rocked a half-up, half-down hair ’do and a nude lip.

The break from her normal style on not one, but two occasions makes us wonder if Swift is permanently switching up her fashion game or simply dropping some really stealth Easter eggs. TBD.
