Well, ladies and gentlemen. The 2025 Super Bowl took place last night, and it was an anticlimactic ending for Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce.
Many fans were expecting the 35-year-old singer to have an on-field PDA moment with her 35-year-old boyfriend after the conclusion of the Super Bowl. Of course, Swifties were relying on Kelce’s team, the Kansas City Chiefs, to defeat the Philadelphia Eagles…and that’s not what happened.
Once the game had concluded, Kelce offered support to his teammates and congratulated his opponents. Then, he immediately exited the field (and, as a result, crushed fans’ hope of witnessing the reunion between Kelce and Swift).
Swifties were understandably disappointed because many believed that Kelce was going to propose to Swift after the game. The rumors originated after the athlete answered a media question regarding a potential engagement.
Despite the botched photo op, Swifties are giddy with delight about where Swift and Kelce’s relationship is heading. Even the athlete’s dad, Ed, admitted that the Super Bowl will mark a turning point.
“I think we get past the Super Bowl, I think it’s going to be a very good time for the two of them without the NFL season, without the Eras tour, just them alone really connecting more,” Ed said. “I think that can only be a good thing.”
Ed said that Swift is a “joy to be around” and that she’s very committed to her relationship with Travis, even if she spends her weekends watching sports. “She’s learning much more about football,” he added. “She’s watching football with her dad a lot. She’s watching football whenever she can.”
At least there will be plenty of time to plan an engagement during the off-season.
