Sterling K. Brown’s Kids Weren’t Impressed with His ‘Frozen 2’ Performance

Just because Sterling K. Brown voices Lieutenant Mattias in Frozen 2 doesn’t mean his children are impressed by his latest project.

During a recent episode of Late Night with Seth Meyers, the This Is Us star, 43, talked about the two kids he shares with his wife, Ryan Michelle Bathe: Andrew (8) and Amaré (4).

Although he brought his children to the star-studded premiere of Frozen 2, Brown admitted that they didn’t have strong feelings about his performance in the highly anticipated sequel.

“After it’s over, I was like, ‘You think Daddy did a good job?’” he said. “And my 8-year-old was like, ‘Yeah, you were fine.’”

This isn’t the first time Andrew watched his dad’s work. In fact, Brown brought him to see Black Panther back in 2018 and soon realized it was a terrible idea, since both the actor and his on-screen son, Erik Killmonger (Michael B. Jordan), die in the movie.

“He’s impressed with it, but here’s a note to the wise. If you take your son to a movie where the character that plays your son dies, he may have a traumatic effect,” he continued.

Brown went on to say that Andrew was traumatized, adding, “I had to, like, pick him up, sit him on my lap and rock him and tell him it was gonna be okay. And afterwards, when we went to the after-party, he would not leave my side. He was like, ‘When are we going home? We’re going together. Until then, I’m not leaving you.’ It was beautiful.”

Poor Andrew has no idea how lucky he is.
