Shailene Woodley’s Bright Orange Eye Shadow Stole the Show on the CFDA Red Carpet

Shailene Woodley brought her fashion A-game to the 2019 CFDA Awards.

Last night, the Big Little Lies actress, 27, gathered alongside the fashion industry’s biggest stars at the Brooklyn Museum. Woodley walked the red carpet in a head-turning ensemble, which she complemented with one of our fave spring beauty trends: neon eye shadow.

The actress was also wearing a black asymmetrical tuxedo dress from Jonathan Simkhai’s Resort 2020 collection. Featuring one long-sleeve and one exposed arm, the tailored silhouette had a slightly deconstructed vibe.

Woodley completed the outfit with bold makeup, including a swipe of highlighter orange eyeshadow across each eyelid along with a generous dose of mascara. The rest of her face was relatively bare, letting her natural beauty shine.

While daring, we’re not surprised that the actress opted for the unusual hue, especially considering how quickly vivid Day-Glo shades have become a buzzy spring trend.

To achieve this look on your own, choose a bright formula—like NYX’s Ultimate Shadow Palette—and apply liberally to the entire lid, including the inner eye. You can even use an eyeshadow stencil to obtain a clean, cat-eye line.

The CFDA Awards is informally known as the Oscars of fashion, which is why celebs—like Woodley—regularly attend. Since it’s put on by the Council of Fashion Designers of America, the awards show honors the most talented American designers and their accomplishments.

This year’s winners include Brandon Maxwell (Womenswear Designer of the Year), Rick Owens (Menswear Designer of the Year), Emily Adams Bode for Bode (Emerging Designer of the Year) and Ashley Olsen and Mary-Kate Olsen for The Row (Accessories Designer of the Year).

Slay, Shailene, slay.
