He captioned the pic, “One of these blondes is going to be Zack Morris,” referencing himself and the blonde hairstyle at his side. He added the hashtags “#sbtb” and “#reboot” and tagged his Saved by the Bell co-stars Tiffani Thiessen, Elizabeth Berkley and Mario Lopez.
It’s not clear whether this pic means that the series is officially shooting, but we do know that the reboot centers on Zack, who’s now California governor. When he, according to the show’s logline, “gets into hot water for closing too many low-income high schools, he proposes they send the affected students to the highest performing schools in the state—including Bayside High. The influx of new students gives the over-privileged Bayside kids a much needed and hilarious dose of reality.” (In case you need a refresher, Bayside is the high school where Zack and the gang went way back when.)
Although it’s been confirmed that Gosselaar, Lopez (A.C. Slater) and Berkley (Jessie Spano) have joined the reboot cast, it appears Lark Voorhies (Lisa Turtle) was not asked to return. Thiessen (Kelly Kapowski) is expected to join the series in some capacity, but nothing has been set in stone. There will also be a whole new cast of characters.
For those who just can’t wait to return to Bayside, the Saved by the Bell revival is set to hit NBCUniversal’s new streaming service, Peacock, later this year.
