While the royal family (including King Charles) celebrated Commonwealth Day, Sarah “Fergie” Ferguson paid tribute to another special holiday: World Book Day.

The Duchess of York, 65, recently shared a slideshow of photos on Instagram and shared a heartfelt message about the powerful influence of books.

The caption read, “Happy #WorldBookDay! Books have the power to transport us to new worlds, spark imagination, and inspire a lifelong love of learning. Today we celebrate the magic of storytelling and the joy that reading brings to people of all ages.”

Ferguson continued, “As an author, I’ve been privileged to write stories that encourage curiosity and creativity, and one of my greatest joys is sharing them with children around the world. But the love of reading isn’t just for the young - it is for everyone, at every age. So let today be a reminder of the joy of reading. Pick up a book, get lost in a story, and celebrate the magic of words.”

In addition to her memoirs, Finding Sarah and My Story, Ferguson is the author of several children’s books, including Ballerina Rosie; Tea for Ruby, Flora and Fern, Arthur Fantastic and The Adventures of Budgie. She also authored a historical fiction story about a royal rebel, titled A Most Intriguing Lady.

What a special tribute.
