Reese Witherspoon’s ‘Cruel Intentions’ Lob Has Returned

It’s been 20 years since Cruel Intentions hit theaters, but Reese Witherspoon is bringing back one of the best parts of the movie: her character’s iconic lob.

The 43-year-old Oscar winner arrived at Good Morning America today rocking a 2019 version of Annette Hargrove’s layered side-parted bob.

As you’ll notice above, this time around Witherspoon’s bob doesn’t feature layers and is instead one length with a slight wave at the bottom. But that voluminous side part is unmistakably Cruel Intentions–esque. Peep the similarities below.

Witherspoon has been rocking some version of a lob or bob for years, but this Annette-inspired iteration might just be our favorite. It’s flattering, it’s youthful and it’s easy to maintain.

The Draper James doyenne visited Good Morning America to promote her and Jennifer Aniston’s new Apple TV+ series, The Morning Show. In the upcoming drama, Witherspoon plays a newcomer to the morning news circuit who gets hired after a shakeup at the network causes some major changes in the newscaster lineup. Although Witherspoon is surely a dream to work with, Aniston’s character doesn’t seem to vibe with her in the trailer.

Today, Witherspoon and Aniston showed off their on-camera talent by taking over the morning news with Robin Roberts and George Stephanopoulos and flaunting their teleprompter skills. Witherspoon even ad-libbed and got a seal of approval from Roberts in a video the Big Little Lies star posted on Instagram.

Interestingly enough, Witherspoon’s Cruel Intentions character was also a journalist of sorts. (Remember when she penned that essay in support of chastity until marriage?)

Witherspoon and Aniston’s new show hits the streaming platform on this Friday, November 1. We’ll be watching with our own fresh lob.
