Congratulations are in order for Netflix—the streaming company has just won the rights to Pyros, a sci-fi story with Reese Witherspoon attached.

The film is an adaptation of the science-fiction short story “Tardy Man,” written by Thomas Pierce, and first published in The New Yorker magazine in 2018. The story follows people who are fitted with indestructible fire suits fused to their spines and who are employed by a corporation that recovers objects for wealthy people when their houses are burning. Sounds interesting.

The film’s auction, which was orchestrated by CAA, drew six other studios interested in the package. Deadline revealing that Sony Pictures was among the finalists.

News of the deal comes one day after Apple unveiled a teaser trailer for The Morning Show, a series that stars Witherspoon along with Jennifer Anniston and Steve Carrell. The show will center on the lives of anchors and producers on a typical morning TV show (think Good Morning America meets Big Little Lies).

Pierce will write the script for Pyros, with Witherspoon and Lauren Neustadter producing. Oh, and did we mention the 43-year-old actress is also set to star?

No timeline yet on when they will begin filming. But in the meantime, we’ll be reading “Tardy Man” to prepare.
