Queen Elizabeth Is Showing Her Support for Ukraine by Donating to Aid Resources Amidst Russian Invasion

Since the Russian troops invaded Ukraine, we’ve seen an outpour of support from people around the world. Even celebrities like Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds have pledged to donate aid to the people of Ukraine. Now, Queen Elizabeth has decided to enter the ring.

On Thursday, The Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) announced on Twitter that the monarch donated to the Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal to help people fleeing the country. “Many thanks to Her Majesty The Queen for continuing to support the Disasters Emergency Committee and for making a generous donation to the DEC Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal,” the message read.

Other members of the royal family have spoken out against the atrocities happening in Ukraine. On February 24, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle issued a public statement (on their Archewell Foundation website) showing their support for the Ukrainian people.

The statement read, “Prince Harry and Meghan, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex and all of us at Archewell stand with the people of Ukraine against this breach of international and humanitarian law and encourage the global community and its leaders to do the same.”

Prince William and Kate Middleton decided to share a personal message on Twitter to support Ukraine. On Saturday, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge said, “In October 2020 we had the privilege to meet President Zelenskyy and the First Lady to learn of their hope and optimism for Ukraine's future.”

The couple ended the statement by saying, “Today we stand with the President and all of Ukraine's people as they bravely fight for that future.”
