Queen Elizabeth Is the Definition of Retro Glam in Throwback Photos from Kate & Will

The royal family just shared rare throwback photos of Queen Elizabeth, and they are the definition of ’50s glamour.

Today, Prince William and Kate Middleton shared a slideshow of photos on their joint Instagram account.

The post features several pictures from the monarch’s 70-year reign. However, we can’t stop staring at the first pic, which shows Her Majesty in her early days as queen.

In the photo, Queen Elizabeth is smiling and looking over her shoulder. She’s wearing a fluffy fur coat, along with a ruffled fascinator.

“In this very special #PlatinumJubilee year, we celebrate Her Majesty The Queen and her historic 70 years of service on #IWD2022,” the caption read. “Mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and Head of State, The Queen’s extraordinary reign has been longer than any other monarch in British history—inspiring a nation and dedicating her life to the service of the Commonwealth and its people.”

Last month, The Royal Collection Trust celebrated the queen’s Platinum Jubilee by sharing a vintage portrait from her first days as a monarch. “On this day 70 years ago, just twenty days after her accession to the throne, The Queen sat for her first official portraits as Sovereign,” the caption read. “These iconic photographs were taken by Dorothy Wilding to produce portraits to use as the basis for The Queen’s image on new coins, banknotes and stamps, as well as providing the official portrait of Her Majesty which was sent to every British embassy throughout the world.”

Back in December 2021, the royal family posted another shot of Queen Elizabeth—but this time, it was taken in the 1930s. In the photo, the queen looks strikingly similar to her great-granddaughter, Princess Charlotte.

Keep the throwback pics coming.
