It's a refreshing change

If there’s one thing the royal family consistently delivers on, it’s gorgeous, high-quality snapshots from their various outings and engagements. From that powerful photo of Duchess Sophie to the recent striking shot of Prince William, the royal family’s official social media accounts offer a curated (and honestly, very photogenic) peek into their lives.

The latest post from Buckingham Palace featuring Queen Camilla follows suit—but with a bit of a twist.

On Monday, July 14, the palace shared a charming photo of Queen Camilla dressed in a turquoise dress featuring a subtle leaf print. Her signature blonde bob is flipped just so and she’s beaming at the camera. But what really makes the photo stand out? She’s holding her dog, Moley—a pup she adopted earlier this year. The sweet snap wasn’t taken at a formal engagement or public event but appears to be more of a casual, at-home portrait. And yes, it’s just as endearing as it sounds.

The caption gave a warm shout-out to Battersea, the beloved London-based animal rescue organization Camilla supports as patron. “It was a fantastic afternoon at @Battersea - we are so grateful for all that you do,” the post reads. “Whilst Moley was keeping cool at home, she wishes she could have been reunited with some of her old friends!”

In addition to the heartfelt message, the palace also included helpful tips for keeping pets cool during warmer weather. A thoughtful (and very pet-parent) touch.

While it’s not unusual to see members of the royal family posing with their beloved dogs—Queen Elizabeth famously had more than 30 corgis—the casual, single-photo nature of this post is a bit of a departure from the norm. Typically, the palace opts for carousel posts or more formal settings.

Prior to this photo drop, Buckingham Palace had shared a recap of Queen Camilla’s official visit to Battersea. The post featured a video and several photos of her chatting with staff, greeting visitors and, of course, meeting some of the rescue animals.

“A wonderfully waggy-tailed welcome to @Battersea,” the caption read. “As Patron of the charity, The Queen officially unveiled the new location for the RHS and BBC Radio 2 ‘Dog Garden,’ designed by Monty Don for Chelsea Flower Show.”

They added, “The garden was designed as a blueprint for all the things dogs love, and will provide Battersea with a tranquil space for the rescue dogs in their care, allowing them to spend time away from the kennel environment in a serene, natural setting.”

In short: Camilla’s latest post wasn’t just a royal update—it was a refreshingly personal glimpse into her life as both Queen and dog lover.
