Well, that was unexpected

It’s not every day that Buckingham Palace comments on an Instagram post—especially one that’s not, you know, official royal business. So naturally, fans were stunned (and delighted) when the royal family's actual Instagram account left a cheeky reply on a video posted by TV and radio personalities Jamie Laing and Sophie Habboo.

Here’s what happened: On June 25, Jamie and Sophie shared an Instagram Reel of themselves dancing to Starrkeisha’s viral hit “Baby Momma” while standing on the Grand Staircase inside Buckingham Palace. Bold move—not only because they were dancing inside one of the most iconic royal residence but because it’s apparently against the rules to film there. Jamie even called it out in the caption, writing, “They said we couldn’t film in Buckingham Palace.”

But the real mic-drop moment came in the comments. The royal family’s official Instagram account replied with, “We see you,” adding the eyes and winking emoji.

And they weren’t the only ones in on the joke. The King’s Trust added its own playful remark, adding, “All of our attendees are very well behaved.”

Fans loved the unexpected humor. The comment section quickly filled with laughing emojis and praise like “Iconic,” “Best response ever,” and “In a world that’s so serious, this was so needed.”

FYI, Jamie and Sophie’s video wasn’t just random fun—it was inspired by Meghan Markle’s own “Baby Mama Dance” moment.

The Duchess of Sussex recently shared a throwback of her and Prince Harry dancing at the hospital ahead of Princess Lilibet’s arrival, writing, “Both of our children were a week past their due dates… so when spicy food, all that walking, and acupuncture didn’t work—there was only one thing left to do!”

The verdict? Buckingham Palace has jokes.
