According to the report, the capsule contained a Kylie Minogue CD, an early pocket TV, a solar-powered calculator, and a copy of The Times newspaper. These items were picked by a competition run on the British children’s TV show Blue Peter, as viewers were tasked with picking eight things they felt represented life in the 1990s.
The capsule wasn’t supposed to be opened for another couple of centuries, but received an unexpected bump in the timeline as the hospital is in the process of demolishing its existing buildings to build a new children’s cancer center. Even better, the hospital asked staff members who were either born in 1991 or already working there in 1991 to assist with the removal.
