When it comes to royal throwbacks, there’s one person we can always count on to keep fans fed: Princess Diana’s younger brother, Charles Spencer. Whether he’s posting uncanny family resemblances from their grandparents or rare baby photos of the late princess, the 9th Earl Spencer is basically the king of royal nostalgia. So, naturally, his latest Instagram post is another throwback and it’s one for the books.

But this isn’t just any trip down memory lane. On July 29, Spencer posted a previously unseen black-and-white photo of himself and Diana as kids, taken by the pool at their childhood home, Park House in Sandringham.

“A long ago summer, by the swimming pool at our childhood home, Park House, Sandringham—Diana and I both proudly showing off our swimming badges (sewn onto our swimming costumes),” Charles captioned the image.

He continued, adding a charming memory, “These were awarded (sparingly) by Mrs Lansdowne, a fairly terrifying but very gifted swimming instructor, who came to stay each year. We were never out of that pool.”

Charles finished the post with a series of hashtags, including #learningtoswim, #childhoodmemories, and #1960s.

This isn't the first throwback Spencer has shared this month. Earlier in July, on what would have been Diana’s 64th birthday, he posted a rare photo from her sixth birthday in 1967. The image featured a group of children (including Diana) perched on a camel, with their father nearby. The caption recalled how their dad had arranged for the camel to visit from a zoo as a surprise.

Safe to say, Charles Spencer’s archive is a national treasure and royal fans everywhere are loving every nostalgic minute.
