It’s officially July—which means we’re stepping into the second half of the year and marking an important day in royal history. July 1 would have been Princess Diana’s 64th birthday, and her younger brother, Charles Spencer, is honoring her in the sweetest way.

To mark the occasion, Charles took to social media to share a rare black-and-white photo from Diana’s sixth birthday party back in 1967. The throwback snapshot shows a group of kids (including two perched on a camel) and three men standing nearby—one of whom Charles identified as their father, John Spencer.

“Another July 1st, from long ago – 1967,” he captioned the photo. “In fact: for Diana’s 6th birthday party, my father (standing, left) – to huge excitement – secured the services of Bert the Camel, from Peterborough Zoo.”

Charles has made a habit of sharing family memories with his late sister. Back in November 2024, he posted a touching photo from their childhood—this one from when she was 11. It showed nearly the whole family, sisters Lady Sarah and Lady Jane, their father John Earl Spencer, Charles himself, and a young Diana.

Born into the Spencer family in 1961, Diana was the third of four children. She became the Princess of Wales in 1981 when she married then-Prince Charles, and together they welcomed Prince William and Prince Harry.

Though Diana and Charles separated in 1992 and finalized their divorce in 1996, she remained one of the most beloved public figures in the world. Tragically, she died in a car crash in Paris on August 31, 1997, at the age of 36.
