Prince William Poses for Striking Portrait (& I Can’t Read the Expression on His Face)

They say a photo is worth a thousand words. And based on Prince William’s most recent outings, I can confirm that his body language is just as telling as the pictures. That’s why this brand-new photo of the Prince of Wales, 42, made me do a double take. 

Today, Prince William traveled to Reading, England to visit the Royal Berkshire Hospital. (FYI, the outing was in partnership with NHS Charities Together, where the royal serves as patron.) Photographers captured a striking portrait of the Prince of Wales sitting alone, and I can’t stop thinking about the mysterious expression on his face.

The photo showed Prince William sitting on a wooden bench with his hands resting on his knees. The royal’s lips were pressed together in a way that indicated he was in deep thought. 

Perhaps the Prince of Wales was thinking about NHS Charities Together, which has helped frontline workers and volunteers recover in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic. Or maybe he was thinking about his wife, Kate Middleton, and his three children, Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, 9, and Prince Louis, 6, who were noticeably missing from the outing. 

The rest of the slideshow included photos and behind-the-scenes footage from the prince’s visit. The caption read, “A heartening visit to Royal Berkshire Hospital to see firsthand the lasting impact of NHS Charities Together’s support over the past five years. Remembering all the staff who lost their lives during the coronavirus pandemic and thanking all those who continue to take care of us.
