Prince William Shouts Out Grandma Queen Elizabeth During Concert Speech

At King Charles III's, 74, coronation, the royal family certainly kept the spirit of Queen Elizabeth II alive. From fashionable nods to meaningful procession choices, the royals made all kinds of winks to the late monarch. But, perhaps the most moving tribute was during the coronation concert, when Prince William, 40, gave a shoutout to his grandma.

The emotional moment was shared to the official royal family account. In the clip, we see the Prince of Wales make a reference to the coronation of his late grandmother. Check it out below.

“As my grandmother said when she was crowned: ‘Coronations are a declaration of our hopes for the future,’” Prince William said. “And I know she's up there, fondly keeping an eye on us, and she'd be a very proud mother.”

Immediately after Prince William's statement, the camera panned to King Charles in the audience, and you could see the emotion on his face as he clapped to his eldest son's speech.

In the rest of his address, the Prince of Wales spoke lovingly about his father, saying, “...For over 50 years, in every corner of the U.K., across the Commonwealth and around the world, [King Charles] has dedicated himself to serve others, both current and future generations, and those whose memory must not be neglected.” A few moments later, Prince William added, “Pa, we are all so proud of you.”

This was just the latest in a series of moving moments between the father and son. The day prior, when King Charles was crowned in Westminster Abbey, part of the ceremony involved Prince William (who is now first in line to the throne). In one moment, when the royal planted a kiss on his father's cheek, a video captured the monarch saying, “Thank you, William.”
