Prince Harry rarely talks about his kids—Archie, 5, and Lilibet, 3—in public. But when he does, he’s not afraid to get sentimental (like when he revealed what his favorite gift has been through the years).
Prince Harry Reveals Beautiful Details of Lilibet’s Birth—and His Shocking Role
He handled it like a pro
In a newly resurfaced excerpt from his tell-all book Spare, the Duke of Sussex shared never-before-heard details about Lilibet’s birth. Prince Harry revealed that moments before she entered the world, he decided to deliver her himself.
“When the doctor said it was a matter of minutes, I told [Meghan Markle] that I wanted mine to be the first face our little girl saw,” he wrote.
The doctor guided Prince Harry into place just in time. “I slid my hands under the tiny back and neck,” he explained. “Gently, but firmly, as I’d seen in films, I pulled our precious daughter from that world into this.”
The Duke of Sussex candidly described his first moments with Lilibet. He wrote, “I pulled our precious daughter from that world into this, and cradled her just a moment, trying to smile at her, to see her, but honestly, I couldn’t see anything.”
Prince Harry continued, “I wanted to say: Hello. I wanted to say: Where have you come from? I wanted to say: Is it better there? Is it peaceful? Are you frightened? Don’t be, don’t be, all will be well. ‘I’ll keep you safe.’”
What a special moment.
