‘Miss Congeniality’ Star Is Totally Game for a Third Movie (and I'm Practicing My Pageant Wave Already)

When it comes to reboots and sequels, it’s usually a gamble. Some things are better left untouched. But a third Miss Congeniality movie? Yeah, that’s one I’d absolutely make room for—and so would one of its original stars.

Heather Burns, aka Miss Rhode Island, recently shared that she’d be all in on a third installment of the fan-favorite franchise. If the name doesn’t immediately ring a bell, don’t worry—you definitely know her. Every spring, her iconic line from the first film goes viral.

When her character is asked to describe her perfect date, she answers: “That’s a tough one. I’d have to say April 25th… because it’s not too hot, not too cold. All you need is a light jacket.”

Speaking to People at the 2025 Tribeca Festival premiere of The Best You Can, Heather said she’d jump at the chance to return. "Oh God, I would love it. That was one of the best experiences of my life,” she shared.

Coincidentally, the actress even attended TFF with Miss Congeniality co-star and real-life bestie Melissa De Sousa (aka Miss New York). "I made lifelong friends working with Sandra Bullock," she added. “So yes, a third [movie], I would jump at it. It would be so much fun.”

The original Miss Congeniality (2000) followed FBI agent Gracie Hart (Sandra Bullock) as she went undercover at a beauty pageant to catch a terrorist. The sequel, Miss Congeniality 2: Armed and Fabulous (2005), saw Gracie dealing with sudden fame—and teaming up with Regina King to rescue a kidnapped Cheryl (Heather Burns).

As for what a third film could be about? Who knows. But honestly, give me pageants, undercover chaos and Bullock back—and I'm so there.

In the meantime, Miss Congeniality and Miss Congeniality 2 are available to stream on Prime Video, Apple TV and YouTube.
