Phew—Meghan Markle Just Prevented Her Own Wardrobe Malfunction

The Duchess of Sussex almost had a major wardrobe malfunction this morning in Johannesburg, South Africa—but luckily, she saved her own day.

Wearing a trench dress by Banana Republic, Meghan Markle attended her first of two solo events in South Africa's biggest city.

The duchess's first event today consisted of meeting with students and faculty at the University of Johannesburg for a roundtable discussion with her patronage, the Association of Commonwealth Universities. During the roundtable, Markle listened to the students' concerns and learned about the barriers young women face in higher education.

The duchess paired the Banana Republic double-breasted trench dress ($139) with her beige Stuart Weitzman Legend Pumps (the same ones she wore during Archie's birth announcement photoshoot) and an Alemdara Evil Eye Bracelet ($338). But the classy outfit had one problem that the duchess probably didn't consider: The bottom of the dress is not exactly wind-proof.

In order to prevent a Marilyn Monroe moment on a very windy day, Markle held the bottom of it down with one hand (and we're sure she's counting her lucky stars that she didn't bring a clutch along for the occasion).

Nice save, Your Highness.

Markle was in Johannesburg for the first of two solo events today. She flew to the city from Cape Town over the weekend with baby Archie in tow, then attended a private activist breakfast at the British High Commissioner's home, Skyped in to a meeting with Prince Harry while he was in Malawi and made a surprise visit to Victoria Yards on Sunday.

Phew, and we thought we had a busy weekend (without even looking remotely put-together).
