Meghan Markle Announces Her Return to Instagram in New Interview

Meghan Markle is coming back to Instagram!

The Duchess of Sussex recently sat down for a candid interview with The Cut magazine, where she revealed that she will be making her triumphant return to social media.

The cover story, written by Allison P. Davis, immediately started out with the exciting tidbit, as Davis said Markle leaned forward and whispered, “Do you want to know a secret?” Then, with “eyes alight and devilish,” the duchess confessed, “I’m getting back…on Instagram.”

According to the interview, Markle hadn't originally intended on returning to social media, but as Davis put it, this move is “proof that she and Harry have made it to the other side of all the drama that defined their past three years.”

One of the duchess's new projects was apparently also a motivator in returning to social media, as Markle said, “Especially now, with Archetypes coming out.” Archetypes is Markle's new podcast that has already featured Serena Williams and is set to have other major guests like Constance Wu, Issa Rae, Margaret Cho and more.

It makes sense that Markle would want to return to social media, given that she used to run her own blog, The Tig, and she apparently used to even draft her own captions for the @SussexRoyal account that she shared with her husband, Prince Harry.

However, when the Duke and Duchess of Sussex stepped down from their senior roles as royals, their joint account had to be shut down.

In March of 2020, right as the COVID-19 pandemic hit, the pair posted a farewell message on their account, writing, “As we can all feel, the world at this moment seems extraordinarily fragile. Yet we are confident that every human being has the potential and opportunity to make a difference—as seen now across the globe, in our families, our communities and those on the front line—together we can lift each other up to realise the fullness of that promise.”

They added, “As we all find the part we are to play in this global shift and changing of habits, we are focusing this new chapter to understand how we can best contribute. While you may not see us here, the work continues. Thank you to this community - for the support, the inspiration and the shared commitment to the good in the world. We look forward to reconnecting with you soon. You’ve been great! Until then, please take good care of yourselves, and of one another.”

Since then, the Sussexes have shared news with their followers through the website for their Archewell foundation, where they have made various posts advocating for charities, sharing important messages and more.

We will certainly be giving Meghan a follow when she returns to the 'gram.
