Meghan Markle & Prince Harry Release Statement in Honor of Prince Philip: ‘You Will Be Greatly Missed’

The British royal family announced early this morning that Prince Philip has passed away at the age of 99. And now, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have released a statement in honor of the Duke of Edinburgh.

Queen Elizabeth revealed the sad news in a statement on the family’s official website and on social media. The message read, “It is with deep sorrow that Her Majesty The Queen has announced the death of her beloved husband, His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. His Royal Highness passed away peacefully this morning at Windsor Castle.”

Shortly after the announcement, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who no longer have any active social media accounts, changed the homepage of their official Archewell website to include a message. “In loving memory of His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh 1921-2021. Thank you for your service... You will be greatly missed,” the statement read. See the homepage below.

As we mentioned above, the ex-royals aren’t the only members of Philip’s family to release a statement. Prince William and Kate Middleton also honored the Duke of Cambridge's late grandfather by making a major change to their Twitter account. In addition to sharing the queen’s initial announcement, the couple also changed their main photo to one of Prince Philip. (They also changed their profile pictures.)

We are sending love and support to the royal family during this difficult time.
