It’s not every day royal watchers get a glimpse into Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s relationship—let alone some sweet, behind-the-scenes details. But ever since rejoining Instagram and launching her Netflix series With Love, Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex has been dropping little gems here and there. And the latest one? It’s swoonworthy.

In Season 2 of With Love, Meghan, Meghan, 44, invites Queer Eye’s Tan France, 42, to join her, and during their chat in episode three, she opened up about falling in love with Harry, 40, during their unforgettable getaway to Botswana nine years ago.

“It was our third date,” the Suits alum shared. “We had two back-to-back dates in London in July 2016, and then went to Botswana and camped for five days together.”

She laughed, adding, “You really get to know someone when you’re in a little tent together and it’s like, ‘What is that outside the tent?’ ‘That’s an elephant.’ ‘Are we going to be safe?’ ‘Yeah, you’re safe.’”

She also revealed that Botswana was where the couple first exchanged “I love you’s.” When Tan asked who said it first, Meghan smiled and made a big admission: “He told me.” Tan teased her, “Oh, that’s nice. You’re starting to blush. I’ll stop this line of questioning.” To which Meghan quipped, “She’s still got it!”

The Duchess also gave a little insight into their 2017 engagement and the now-famous “engagement chicken” she made that night.

“I was still having a lot of challenges with the conversion of Celsius and Fahrenheit,” she admitted. “I made a horrible chicken that night. I mean truly, truly terrible. So the point is, you can make a terrible chicken, and someone is still going to appreciate the thought.”

Back in July, Meghan gave fans another adorable peek into her early days with Harry. In a Fourth of July Instagram carousel, she posted a throwback photo from one of their first dates.

“Our second date was the 4th of July 2016, and H brought me cupcakes to celebrate,” she wrote, alongside a photo of red, white, and blue cupcakes. “Now, all these years later, our two children are in on the tradition.”
