While I love that Meghan Markle’s Netflix series is jam-packed with top-notch recipes and hosting inspo, the style consistently feels like the *chef’s kiss* on top of it all. As we await the premiere on August 26, I couldn’t help but revisit the recently dropped trailer with eyes on a very specific (and fall-ready) color combo sported by the Duchess of Sussex: Lavender and burgundy.

Trust me when I say that I invested in my fair share of the red-wine colored hue at the end of last year. But Meghan’s choice to pair it with a pinky lavender, a look we catch a quick glimpse of in the season two trailer, feels surprising and fresh. It’s also quite pretty. In Meghan’s case, she pairs the ‘Nera’ cashmere sweater from Khaite with Anine Bing’s ‘Carrie’ pants in light lavender. (Yes, the trouser is now sold out, but it’s a combination that feels easy enough to replicate.)
After all, burgundy is a color that’s practically a neutral for fall. Add to that the fact that purple has been dubbed the new pink for the same season. It feels like a no-brainer to put them together. If anything, the combo almost reads as monochromatic given that burgundy is simply a dark and plum-colored purple.
Of course, Meghan adds a joie de vivre and easy elegance to anything she wears. She’s also one of the only people that could pull off such style while dealing with a range of spatter-prone ingredients—to which I say, more power to her.
