In the episode that dropped last Tuesday, the Duchess of Sussex discussed what it means to be a “good" mother and wife. While she was recording, Markle received a surprise FaceTime call from her mother. Markle said, “Oh sugar, my mom's FaceTiming me. Hey, Mommy!”
During the brief call, Ragland noted that her daughter must inevitably be smiling while recording the pod and Markle replied, “I have on a smiley face. I love you.” Her mother ended the conversation by saying, “I love you, too. I’ll see you on Saturday.”
Though the conversation was short and sweet, Markle started to think back to her childhood and how her mother supported her in so many ways.

Markle added. “The amount that women carry, that they navigate—it’s immense. And it’s often the most thankless, unpaid labor there is. There’s no union. There's no lunch break. There's nothing like that. At home, women just work really, really hard. And a lot of that work is borne out of necessity. But so much of it is also borne out of expectations…the idea that we need to fit the exact cookie cutter shape the world wants to jam us into.”
There’s nothing like a bond between a mother and daughter.
