This Royal Made a Surprise Appearance at Kerry Washington’s Birthday Celebration

Kerry Washington recently marked her 48th birthday with a low-key girls' night in—and I never would've guessed that a royal participated in the festivities.

On Friday, Washington was joined by Meghan Markle, Jessica Alba and a few other close friends for an intimate, indoor celebration, complete with donut cakes and a new moon ceremony. Alba shared a few highlights from the celebration on TikTok and wrote, "Happy Born Day to my girl Kerry Washington. There’s nothing like that fill-your-cup type of #girls night. Under the energy of the #NewMoon in Aquarius, we came together for a beautiful ceremony led by Jill, founder of Spirit Daughter. New moons are a time for fresh starts, setting #intentions, and calling in new possibilities—and this night was just that."

In the video, Markle is spotted in a blink-and-you'll-miss-it moment, when Alba approaches the dinner table with a plate of donuts and candles and sings "Happy Birthday."

If you take a look towards the left, you'll notice a smiling Markle sitting beside the birthday girl as Alba briefly walks past her.

The royal was not clearly spotted in the rest of the video, but it appears she took part in the new moon ceremony, from meditation sessions to journaling about intentions. Washington also shared a few memorable moments from her spiritual celebration on Instagram and wrote, "It’s my birthday!!!!!!!!!!! Which for me is always a time for reflection and healing!"

Referring to the recent L.A. fires, she added, "But truth be told, in Los Angeles right now, it feels like we are ALL needing to do a lot of that. It’s amazing how loss or even the threat of loss can remind you of what matters most."

Markle's surprise TikTok appearance comes just a few weeks after she and her pal Washington were spotted together at the 2024 Paley Honors Fall Gala to support their good friend and honoree, Tyler Perry. Additionally, the pair were seen at Beyoncé's Renaissance concert in L.A. in September 2023.
