I smiled when Kieran Culkin won the 2025 Oscar Award for Best Supporting Actor for his performance in A Real Pain. As it turns out, the actor’s brother, Macaulay Culkin, had a much more emotional reaction.
Macaulay Culkin Reacts to Brother Kieran Culkin’s Oscar Win: ‘I Cried’
Now that's brotherly love

In an interview with Vanity Fair, Macaulay confirmed that he tuned into the 97th annual Academy Awards to watch his brother win his first-ever Oscar. The Home Alone star, 44, admitted that he got emotional when the winner was announced.
“I cried,” Macaulay said. He then referenced the after-party, where he reunited with Kieran. “I was like, ‘I’m going to see you later.’”
Macaulay jokingly revealed that he knew his brother was going to win based on the location of Kieran’s seat. He added, “He was front row, aisle, closest to the stairs. There was no way he was not going to win.”
During Kieran’s speech, the Succession star called out his wife, Jazz Charton, who promised to give him more children if he won an Oscar. “She turned to me—I swear to God, this happened just over a year ago—she said, ‘I will give you four when you win an Oscar,’” he said. “And I have not brought it up once until just now.”
Kieran continued, “I just have this to say to you, Jazz—love of my life, ye of little faith—no pressure. I love you. I’m really sorry I did this again, and let’s get cracking on those kids. What do you say?”
One thing’s for sure: Talent runs in the Culkin family.
