Kelly Ripa and Ryan Seacrest Had to Halt an Interview Due to a Booming Technical Difficulty

When new episodes of Live with Kelly and Ryan air each weekday, everything usually runs as smoothly as the butter we spread on our morning toast. However, when it comes to live TV, accidents can always happen, and this past week, there was a major interruption that occurred during a celebrity interview.

On Tuesday's episode, Kelly Ripa and Ryan Seacrest welcomed journalist and TV correspondent, Maria Menounos, who was in the midst of talking about her marriage to Keven Undergaro when a crash was suddenly heard offstage.

Upon hearing the noise, Menounos turned around and said “Oh!” before jokingly going: “Opa! Opaa!”

Initially reacting to the sound, Ripa jumped out of her seat, but then she started laughing at Menounos's response. Before the technical interruption, the podcaster had been complimenting her husband, and Ripa added, “You know when the camera crashes, that means it's true.” Seacrest also brushed off the moment by saying, “They're just trying to get you to laugh.”

This small mishap wasn't the only reason that Menounos's visit caught our attention. The former Access Hollywood correspondent also used her visit to announce that she and Undergaro are expecting a baby via surrogate.

The celebrity guest dropped this major news when Ripa asked if she and Undergaro were planning any trips for the summer. “So, we had a lot of plans—we were gonna go to Greece in the summer. We're having to move that up because we're having a baby.”

In response, Ripa said, “Oh my god!” and Seacrest said, “Congratulations!” The audience also cheered in excitement.

This is the first child for Menounos and Undergaro, who have been married since 2017.

Even crashing cameras can't distract from that exciting news. Congrats to Maria and Keven!
