When it comes to action movies, I’m always here for a solid fight scene—the kind that has you on the edge of your seat and maybe even wondering, Could I do that? (in a safe, choreographed, movie-stunt kind of way, obviously). Well, Kerry Washington just gave us a behind-the-scenes look at what it really takes to become an action star, and honestly? I’m in awe.

The actress recently took to Instagram to share a montage of her intense training for her upcoming film Shadow Force and it’s next-level. I'm talking punching, kicking, flipping people (literally), weapon training—you name it. She even slipped in a few dance clips because why not? The grind is real and she’s putting in the work.

"Every drop of sweat. Every bruise. Every scream. Every 5am training session. Every ‘let’s go again,’” Washington wrote in the caption. “I poured my heart, soul, and body into becoming this badass you’ll see on screen in #ShadowForce.”

The Little Fires Everywhere star went on to say, “This role stretched me in ways I never imagined. It demanded strength, fearlessness, discipline, and a whole lot of grit. I’m sooooo proud of the work—and even more grateful to this talented team that helped me rise to the challenge."

After thanking her team, she wrapped the post with a call to action, writing, “Go see what we’ve been cooking. You’re not going to want to miss it!!!!!”

Shadow Force is directed by Joe Carnahan and stars Washington alongside Omar Sy (Lupin), Mark Strong (Atlas), Da’Vine Joy Randolph (Only Murders in the Building) and Cliff “Method Man” Smith (Powebook II: Ghost). The story follows Kyrah (Washington) and Isaac (Sy), former leaders of a black-ops group who go off-grid to protect their son—with the rest of the team hunting them down.

Shadow Force hits theaters May 9—and yep, I already know where I’ll be.
