This Mind-Bending Thriller Starring Jennifer Lopez Just Hit #1 on Netflix After Only 4 Days

Did I mention it also stars Simu Liu and Sterling K. Brown?

It’s not even been a week since the new action-packed sci-fi film Atlas (starring Jennifer Lopez) debuted on Netflix. And yet, the mind-bending thriller-drama has already snagged the number one spot on the streaming service’s top ten movies list

Atlas follows a brilliant data analyst (Lopez) who embarks on a quest to stop a renegade robot from destroying humanity. She is forced to rely on the very technology that she distrusts the most: AI. Can she save the world from total annihilation? Alongside Lopez, the film also stars Simu Liu and Sterling K. Brown

In an interview with Netflix’s TUDUM, Lopez shared what she loved most about the film’s central message. “I loved that this is a big sci-fi action movie, but at its core, it’s a story of friendship—and a love story, in a way,” she said. “I always see everything as a love story, but this is a different kind of love between two beings who connect in disastrous circumstances, and teach each other how to be more human.”

Days before Atlas debuted on Netflix, I reported that the 2018 steamy thriller, A Simple Favor, was occupying the number one spot on Netflix’s top ten movies list.

Based on the 2017 novel of the same name by Darcey Bell, the movie (which is also getting a sequel, btw) centers around two mothers, played by Blake Lively and Anna Kendrick, who become friends. After Emily (Lively) mysteriously goes missing, Stephanie (Kendrick) takes it upon herself to find her and soon discovers some terrifying secrets lurking in the shadows.

Looks like I have two movies to watch tonight. Atlas is streaming right now on Netflix.
