When it comes to 2025 fashion trends, it’s all about blending the best of both worlds—vintage Y2K vibes meet modern, elevated style. But let’s be real: just because a trend is everywhere doesn’t mean everyone’s pulling it off. Luckily, Kerry Washington isn’t just following the trends—she’s setting the bar.

While promoting her upcoming action-thriller Shadow Force in Los Angeles, the actress stepped out in a look that perfectly balanced bold and elegant. She wore a shimmery gold long-sleeve top, cinched at the waist with a black braided tassel belt, paired with a full-length, sheer black polka-dot skirt. Her hair was styled sleek and straight with soft bangs and she finished the look with strappy black stilettos and just the right amount of statement rings.

The whole outfit gave effortlessly glam with a touch of edginess—and yes, it even tapped into one of 2025’s buzziest micro-trends: blokette core. If you’re not familiar, blokette is the playful mix of sporty and ultra-feminine, like pairing an oversized rugby shirt with a sheer lace skirt. Kerry’s take? Subtle, polished and totally wearable.

Of course, fans were obsessed. The Instagram comments were filled with heart and fire emojis, with standouts like: “Yaaas Queen Slay!!!!,” “PRESSURE APPLIED!!!,” “GorgeousMeghan Markle Wears One of California’s Hottest Trends to New York” and “Ma’am! This outfit is everything.”

Sheer seems to be having a major moment across Hollywood. Mandy Moore recently wowed in a sheer matching set from luxe brand LAPOINTE, and Mindy Kaling served up her own take, styling a sheer piece with an oversized blazer.

Washington’s red carpet slay isn’t the only thing turning heads right now. She’s been active on social ahead of Shadow Force (hitting theaters May 9), even sharing a montage of her intense training—think combat drills, flips and serious weapon work.

Clearly, all that hard work paid off—on and off the red carpet.
