Kelly Ripa Makes Major Confession About Her Kids on ‘Live’ This Week: ‘I Have a Favorite Child...’

Last week, Ryan Seacrest was missing from Live with Kelly and Ryan, and during his absence, Kelly Ripa decided to turn the show into a family affair by inviting her husband, Mark Consuelos, to be a guest co-host.

While the couple was running the show this past Wednesday, their conversation naturally turned to their family. It was during this moment that Ripa revealed some very interesting details to her Live audience.

“I have a favorite child and I have a favorite dog but they don't know who they are,” Ripa said. “As a matter of fact, each one of my kids accuses the other child of being my favorite. Constantly.”

Ripa shares three children with Consuelos—Michael (24), Lola (20) and Joaquin (18)—who are each featured heavily on her social media, and sometimes even guest star on her talk show.

However, Ripa revealed that her kids have even gotten into arguments about the topic, claiming they'll be like: “‘Well, you're mom's favorite.’ ‘No you are.’ 'No, you are!’” She jokingly added, “And that's the best game to play, isn't it? You never know who is going to benefit at the reading of the will.”

Upon hearing this, Consuelos chimed in with a reference to the show Succession, saying, “None of them. They get nothing. They get zero. You have to make your own pile!”

Meanwhile, Consuelos professed he didn't have a favorite, saying, “I don't! But I do have a favorite dog, I do. Now that Chewie's not listening to the show right now, I can say I love Chewie but I really, really love Lena.”

All jokes aside, it has always been clear that the family is very close. Ripa featured all three of her kids on Instagram earlier this month, when she posted her family's Christmas card. The photo—taken from a vacation the family took in July—shows the whole crew in Italy, and Ripa captioned it, “Repurposed vacation photo #fbf #holiday #fam.”
