As St. Patrick's Day approaches, it’s time to break out the green gear, grab your "Kiss Me, I'm Irish" T-shirt and, of course, get ready to toast with a green beer. Some cities, like Chicago, even go all out and dye their rivers bright green—yes, you read that right. But while St. Patrick's Day celebrations are going strong in the U.S., London is getting a special treat this year: Kate Middleton will be making her return to the St. Patrick’s Day parade at Wellington Barracks to visit the Irish Guards.

Kensington Palace confirmed that the Princess of Wales will be back for this annual tradition, according to People, marking her first time attending the event since she missed last year due to health reasons. Middleton underwent abdominal surgery in January 2024 and later shared her cancer diagnosis in March, making her return to this year's event all the more special.

Middleton’s no stranger to St. Patrick’s Day celebrations. In fact, she was appointed honorary Colonel of the Irish Guards in 2022, a position she took over from her husband, Prince William. Before that, she often accompanied him to the parade, and this year she’ll be stepping out solo to represent her role.

One of the best perks of this celebration—yes, you guessed it—is enjoying a pint of Guinness. And for the record, the princess has been spotted indulging in one during past years' festivities.

Princess Catherine's commitment to royal traditions goes beyond just showing up for the parade. Recently, she was spotted performing another royal gesture with grace and poise: a curtsy. As King Charles III and Queen Camilla made their entrance at Commonwealth Day, Middleton performed a deep curtsy to show her respect.

Curtsying is an age-old tradition within the royal family, and although there aren’t any strict rules about how to behave in the presence of the monarchy, most follow the established norms. Men typically bow their heads, while women perform a curtsy.

Whether she’s raising a pint of Guinness or bowing in a curtsy, we can’t wait to see what Middleton does next. She’s always a royal to watch and this year’s St. Patrick’s Day festivities are bound to be no exception.
