Queen Camilla Makes Appearance at Cheltenham—and I Can’t Stop Staring at This Bold Accessory

It's kind of hard to miss

Queen Camilla made a stylish appearance on Wednesday, March 12, quietly arriving at Cheltenham Racecourse in Gloucestershire, England for The Cheltenham Festival. While the royal kept a low profile, she was there in her role as Joint Patron of The Jockey Club, where she was set to hand out the trophy for one of the event’s biggest races: the Queen Mother Champion Steeple Chase. But, let’s be real, while her duties were important, it was her fashion choices that had my attention.

This year, the second day of the festival—which was once known as Ladies Day—is now called Style Wednesday and Queen Camilla certainly embraced the day’s fashion focus. She looked effortlessly chic in a muted brown ensemble, which included a tailored dress that fit her perfectly. She accessorized with a matching leather handbag and black fur-trimmed leather gloves, but the standout piece? That hat. Oh, that hat.

Camilla wore a stunning faux fur-rimmed hat from the iconic British milliner Lock & Co. The hat, made from the finest British wool tweed, is described on the brand’s website as “embodying traditional style with a sumptuous contemporary faux fur trim.” And it wasn’t just a hat—it was a statement, one of grace, confidence and timeless charm. And I have to agree with the item's description because it was an accessory that truly stole the show.

If this hat looks familiar, you’re not imagining things—Camilla has worn it before, including at Royal Ascot. She's also been pictured wearing it in other colors like navy and green.

And, of course, her ensemble wasn’t complete without a pair of chic black suede boots.

The royal seemed to be sporting her trusty Russell and Bromley ‘Dressage’ boots—an equestrian-inspired style that was perfectly fitting for the racing atmosphere. Queen Camilla has been spotted in these boots plenty of times before. They’re stylish, practical and surprisingly easy to find affordable dupes.

After this look, I can’t wait to see what Camilla wears next.
