Kate Middleton Admits She Made a Major Fashion Mistake on Christmas Day

Believe it or not, even Kate Middleton occasionally has fashion regrets.

The 37-year-old Duchess of Cambridge reportedly admitted to a royal well-wisher on Christmas Day that she should have worn something a little different for her annual post-church outing.

But it wasn’t because she didn’t like her outfit or feel chic enough. In fact, Middleton regretted wearing her gorgeous grey Catherine Walker coat (and emerald green fascinator and pumps) because she was too hot.

According to Metro, the duchess told 19-year-old royal fan Rachel Anvil that she should have worn something less cozy.

Anvil’s mother, Karen, told Metro, “Kate was talking to my daughter about clothes and how she was feeling too hot. She said, ‘I really shouldn’t have worn this.’” But it looked so “future queen on Christmas!”

While K-Middy was spilling the outfit tea to Anvil, Karen was chatting with 4-year-old Princess Charlotte. The royal well-wisher recalled, “I’m there talking to Charlotte about dolls, and my daughter’s talking about fashion with Kate. It wasn’t fake; it was a genuine discussion. It was about a minute, but it was tailored to my daughter, it was like speaking to a friend. They are totally different with the public [than the press].” Sounds about right.

As is tradition, Middleton and her husband, Prince William, as well as their children, Prince George (6) and Princess Charlotte, accompanied the royal family to church in Norfolk, England, near their holiday home, Sandringham Estate. Although Prince Louis (1) was expected to make his debut this year, it appears we’ll have to wait a little longer to see the tiny prince attend Christmas Day service.

In the meantime, we’ll be giving Kate major props for her relatability and sense of style (as usual).
