Kate Middleton’s Red Dress Stole the Show During Surprise Outing

Kate Middleton just stepped out for a surprise royal outing and simultaneously proved that red is most definitely her color.

Earlier today, the Duchess of Cambridge, 39, visited the Victoria and Albert Museum in Kensington. The tourist attraction recently reopened to the public for the first time since the coronavirus pandemic, which had forced the V&A to temporarily close its doors.

Middleton wore a flattering red plaid dress, which features long sleeves, a button-down front and a collared neckline. According to Hello! magazine, the frock was made by Alessandra Rich, though we can’t find the exact style online. The duchess completed the look with a handheld purse, a pair of simple black heels by Jennifer Chamandi, hoop earrings and her go-to Asprey Woodland Charm, which pays tribute to her family’s coat of arms.

During the visit, Middleton chatted with the staff and browsed the museum’s two new exhibitions: the Raphael Cartoons and Alice: Curiouser and Curiouser. The first gallery features seven of Raphael’s full-scale paintings (which date back to the Renaissance), while the latter boasts 300 objects (relating to art, fashion, film, music—you name it) that were created in honor of Lewis Carroll’s best-selling novel, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland.

We’re not totally surprised by the appearance, since Middleton has been a royal patron of the Victoria and Albert Museum since 2018. Her last visit took place in 2019 when she attended the 100 Women in Finance Gala Dinner.

Since Middleton’s Kensington Palace residence, Apartment 1A. is just a short distance from the V&A, we don’t blame her for arranging a quick—yet convenient—outing.
