Kate Middleton Was Caught Using Her Go-To Parenting Move on Prince George (& We Have a Photo)

Kate Middleton just used her go-to parenting move on Prince George, and it almost went unnoticed. (Key word: almost.)

This week, the Duchess of Cambridge, 39, attended a football—soccer, to us Americans—game at Wembley Stadium alongside her husband, Prince William, and her oldest son. We could easily spend hours talking about her chic Zara blazer, but that would be a disservice to Middleton, who deserves credit elsewhere.

During the game, Middleton performed her clever parenting trick when Prince George asked a question: She leaned down to meet his eye level.

As Hello! magazine points out, the moment was captured by sports agent Dave Gardner, who shared a video on his Instagram Story featuring his view from the royal box (screenshot above).

In the bottom right corner, Middleton appears to be slouching, but that’s only because Prince George had whispered something to her a few seconds prior. As a result, the duchess bent down to his perspective.

Middleton has used this approach on multiple occasions, including with her own children—Prince George (7), Princess Charlotte (6) and Prince Louis (3)—and with kids she meets during royal outings.

So, what does it do? The move reduces dominance over youngsters and encourages them to communicate openly and freely. Although it’s typically done while standing up, it still had the same effect, especially since Prince George could barely see over the railing in front of him.

Leave it to Middleton to encourage open communication, even when she thinks no one is watching.
