Kate Middleton Just Subtly Switched Up Her Hair (& I Almost Didn't Catch It)

It's stunning

Kate Middleton has done it again. And no, I’m not just talking about showing up in another stunning outfit (though yes, she nailed that too). This time, it’s all about the hair.

The Princess of Wales may have a signature style — soft curls, classic waves, timeless blowouts — but every now and then, she’ll surprise us with a subtle switch-up. Remember that polished half-up, half-down moment she wore for VE Day? Or that elegant updo she rocked back in March? Well, she’s switched it up again.

On June 16, Princess Catherine attended the annual Order of the Garter service at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor. While much of her look was topped with a structured hat (classic royal protocol), a closer look revealed a fresh twist on her usual hairstyle. The front sections were pinned or slicked back to accommodate the hat, but the real magic was in the back — perfectly defined, uniform curls that flowed effortlessly down her back. A subtle change from her usual soft waves but still totally in her lane.

Now, let’s talk about that outfit.

For the occasion, Kate wore a cream-toned monochrome ensemble—a trend she continues to master. Her look centered around a Tailored Bouclé and Chiffon Midi Dress by Self-Portrait, featuring a blazer-style bodice and a partially sheer lace skirt. She paired the dress with nude pumps and vintage pearl accessories, including a 1980s faux pearl necklace by Susan Caplan and coordinating pearl cluster earrings.

She wasn’t the only royal going for soft tones. Duchess Sophie also leaned into the monochrome trend, wearing a blush-pink Suzannah London midi dress styled with a wide-brim hat, white heels and a blush clutch.

Whether it’s her hair, her dress or just the whole vibe, Princess Catherine always shows up polished, put-together and somehow effortless.
