When it comes to royal outings, no detail goes unnoticed—from the outfits to the body language, and yes, even the hair. So naturally, all eyes were on Kate Middleton during her first public appearance in nearly five weeks. The Princess of Wales, alongside Prince William, traveled to Scotland today for a two-day visit—which also happens to coincide with their 14th wedding anniversary—and she brought a subtle style change with her.
What was different? Her hair.
Photographed walking side by side with Prince William during a stop at Aros Hall in Tobermory, Scotland, Kate looked effortlessly chic in a casual ensemble. But what really caught attention was her hairstyle. This time, her brunette locks were mostly straight with soft, loose curls at the ends—a noticeable shift from the more formal styles she’s worn in recent months.
The last time we saw the Princess in public was during the 2025 Irish Guards' St. Patrick’s Day Parade at Wellington Barracks in London. For that event, she wore her hair in a polished updo with a crisscross design in the back, tucked neatly beneath a green beret.
And before that, at the Six Nations rugby match in Cardiff, she wore her signature waves in full effect—long, voluminous and perfectly curled.
Clearly, she can pull off just about any look.
As mentioned, today also marks 14 years of marriage for the royal couple, who wed on April 29, 2011, at Westminster Abbey. Though they're in Scotland on official business, the trip holds personal meaning as well—Scotland is where their love story began, back when they were students at the University of St Andrews.
With another day left on their itinerary, I’ll be keeping an eye out—not just for their next royal engagement but for Kate’s next hairstyle, too.
