Just because Jodie Comer took home the 2019 Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series doesn’t mean the Killing Eve star, 26, actually thought she’d win.
In a recent interview with Variety, Comer opened up about her surprise “W” and revealed that she purposely didn’t want her parents to attend the 71st annual ceremony because she didn’t think she had a chance. (LOL)
“It’s nice to bring your parents to these things,” she said. “But I just said, ‘Oh no, sit this one out. Now’s not my time.’ I’m probably not going to ever live that one down with them, or they’ll be coming to every single thing now!”
Comer went on to say that she completely blacked out when her name was called, adding, “I actually don’t know what I was thinking. I was in a complete state of shock. During the day I was strangely calm because I didn’t think it would be me.”
