Jason Momoa Serves Monochrome Magic in Head-to-Toe Pink (But It's His Nails That I Can't Stop Thinking About)

Wasn't expecting that

When it comes to celebrity fashion, not much surprises me anymore. I’ve lived through Lady Gaga’s meat dress, Nicki Minaj’s rainbow wigs, and plenty of Met Gala chaos. But every now and then, someone serves a look that makes me pause—or even do a full double-take. That moment recently came courtesy of Jason Momoa.

Momoa, 46, hit the red carpet at the Cartier Glory to the Filmmaker Award 2025 and the premiere of In the Hand of Dante during the 82nd Venice International Film Festival on September 3 and he did so in unmistakable style. The Aquaman star rocked a monochromatic pink suit layered over a white shirt, with his signature long, curly hair flowing and a pair of sunglasses giving off effortless cool.

But it wasn’t the suit that made me pause—it was the shoes.

Instead of the usual dress shoes or designer boots, Momoa opted for two-strap pink Birkenstocks. Yes, Birkenstocks, on a red carpet. And to fully commit to the look? His toenails were painted pink to match.

Listen, I’ve got zero notes. It’s not every day you see a man confidently wearing open-toe sandals to a major film festival and pulling it off.

This laid-back, stylish appearance comes just over a month after Momoa made headlines for a different kind of transformation: shaving off his iconic beard.

On July 30, he shared a video on Instagram to promote his eco-friendly bottled water brand, Mananalu. The clip opened with him grabbing an electric razor and shaving his beard clean off for the first time in six years. His immediate reaction? “God damnit, I hate it!”

In the caption, he revealed the shave was part of getting into character to reprise his role as Duncan Idaho in Dune Messiah, the upcoming third installment of the Dune franchise—which will also feature his son.

Whether he’s showing off painted toes or a clean-shaven jawline, one thing’s clear: Jason Momoa makes bold choices look easy.
