You Need to See This Photo of Bradley Cooper’s Complete Transformation for ‘Maestro’

We nearly had to do a double take after seeing this photo of Bradley Cooper.

The 47-year-old actor is currently filming his all-new Netflix movie Maestro, which he’s starring in and directing. In the film, Cooper will portray Broadway composer Leonard Bernstein (who’s best known for West Side Story). Although we knew Cooper would commit to the role à la A Star Is Born, we never expected him to completely transform into the character.

Cooper was recently spotted on the set of Maestro, and he was nearly unrecognizable. The actor was decked out in full makeup and costume, including a tan suit and grey wig.

Cooper was accompanied by his co-star Carey Mulligan, who will play Bernstein’s wife Felicia Montealegre. Her attire was equally fabulous, including a tweed pantsuit over a colorful blouse. (Don’t even get us started on that bob wig.)

There’s no doubt they look the part. However, there’s a chance the aging makeup is only temporary. Since Maestro will examine Bernstein’s career over the years, he will likely age throughout the film.

According to Cooper, this role is right up his alley. “I wanted to be a conductor since I was a kid,” Cooper told Variety. “I was obsessed with it, asked Santa Claus for a baton when I was 8. Listening to music, falling in love with it and being able to really know every single moment of a piece, like Tchaikovsky’s ‘Opus 35’ in D major, this violin concerto. I could do it as if I know everything about it without really being able to speak the language, obviously.”

We can’t wait to see Cooper in action.
