Billy Porter Hit the Oscars Red Carpet in 24-Karat Gold Feathers & The Look's Inspired by Kensington Palace

billy porter

Forget about the golden statue, Billy Porter is taking home the gold...literally.

The Pose actor walked the Oscars red carpet in 24-karat gold feathers and honestly, we wouldn't ask for anything less. The high-neck bodice was paired with a printed skirt custom-designed by Giles Deacon. He finished off the look with golden lace-up Jimmy Choo platforms and Atelier Swarovski jewels.

Porter shared the look on his Instagram, captioning, "The Category Is: ROYALTY," and we're giving him 10s across the board.

Porter's longtime stylist Sam Ratelle was inspired by Kensington Palace and reached out to British designer Deacon to bring the vision to life. "I thought, 'The Oscars are kind of a royal event," Ratelle told the New York Times, adding that it's a chance to challenge the notion of who can be a royal. Deacon helped turn an image of the walls of the Palace's Cupola Room into a print for Porter's balloon skirt, then Ratelle used modern accessories to keep the look fresh and reflect the Broadway star's style.

Porter has been turning heads at every award show with jaw-dropping looks. One year ago, he broke the internet with the famous tuxedo gown by Christian Sirano. Just last month, he rocked an all-white, feathery ensemble that took three months to develop. With each red carpet, Porter goes bigger and bolder.

The actor will be presenting tonight, and while we'll be waiting to hear who wins, Porter is definitely a winner tonight for best red carpet look.
