‘Bachelor in Quarantine’ Might Be Coming to ABC & No, This Is Not a Drill

Clare Crawley’s season of The Bachelorette is officially postponed until further notice, so it was only a matter of time before ABC took advantage of the situation. And yes, we’re referring to the network’s newest TV show spin-off: Bachelor in Quarantine.

We know, it sounds totally ridiculous. But the idea originated after ABC exec Rob Mills realized that gathering 30-plus contestants (who will all be kissing the same person, we might add) probably won’t happen for quite some time due to the coronavirus pandemic.

In a recent interview with Deadline, he confirmed that they’ve been discussing the possibility of developing Bachelor in Quarantine. “The best thing about The Bachelor is its willingness to evolve as a format,” Mills said. “So, if we need to shoot a cycle that reflects these times, that’s what we’re going to look at doing.”

We know what you’re thinking, and no, it’s not a rip-off of Netflix’s Love Is Blind. Instead, Bachelor in Quarantine would be more like an at-home version of Bachelor in Paradise.

This could mean two things: Either the contestants will film the content from the comfort of their couch, or they’ll be quarantined before traveling to an isolated location, where they’ll stay for the duration of the show.

We’re not totally surprised by the news, especially since famed TV blogger Reality Steve previously revealed that ABC is eyeing an altered production schedule for Crawley’s season of The Bachelorette.

“I have learned that The Bachelorette is looking to film the entire [season] in one location,” Reality Steve explained. “That means all the dates, and the cocktail parties, and rose ceremonies, and the cast would all live in one resort for the whole time of filming. Zero travel.”

BRB, adding Bachelor in Quarantine to our already extensive list of guilty pleasure TV shows.
