There’s something about fall that just begs for cozy, inviting spaces—and no one captures that feeling better than the Magnolia Network’s resident design guru, Joanna Gaines. Her style is all about making a home feel like, well, home, whether it’s comfortable, lived-in furniture or decor and artwork that’s full of heirloom character

Hence why, when Jo released a fall 2024 lookbook for her Magnolia home brand, I was waiting with bated breath to see what new trends she would bring to the table. And she didn’t disappoint. Her new collection brings fresh twists to classic trends, each infused with her signature touch. Think: delicate, understated florals embrace the soft beauty of autumn and scalloped serveware that blends vintage charm with an organic modern edge. She’s also reimagining playful silhouettes, like mid-century bubble shapes, with natural wood and brass accents that feel fresh and inviting. Each and every piece—be it a tapestry that doubles as a hand-painted mural or an antique wooden shelf with hand-carved details—offers a rustic, storied alternative to her pre-COVID shiplap.

So below, find five trends I’m drooling over for 2024, plus every item to shop (before they inevitably go out of stock).

1. Understated Floral Prints

Magnolia

This fall, Jo is redefining floral prints with a more subtle, refined approach. Unlike the bold, large-scale florals we’ve seen in past years, these prints are smaller, more intricate, and designed to blend seamlessly into your space rather than dominate it. Things like delicate sprigs of wildflowers, soft ferns and tiny, scattered blossoms that look as if they were handpicked from a peaceful meadow at dawn (like the quilt shown above). To that end, their hues don’t scream for attention—which is a detour from the ‘70s ochre and emerald we’ve seen in the past few years—and instead, they bring a soft whisper with muted tones of sage, blush and cream. The whole vibe falls somewhere between a soft linen quilt that you can drape over your sofa and dainty floral napkins that bring a subtle harvest touch to your Thanksgiving tablescape

2. Scalloped Serveware

Magnolia

Speaking of Thanksgiving tablescapes, scalloped serveware is another timeless trend that’s making a comeback. The design dates back to the Art Deco era, where scallops were added to everyday items to evoke a sense of one-of-a-kind craftsmanship. The 2024 take on this trend, however, is more restrained with a focus on simple, organic shapes rather than overly ornate designs. Whether it’s a smooth ceramic pan with delicate waves (shown above) or a rustic stone trivet that anchors your spread, the gentle curves draw the eye so it’s Art Deco glam—without being obtrusive. Perfect to pair with simple, neutral linens and a few vintage candlesticks to create a tablescape that’s cozy and effortlessly chic.

3. Stacked Bubble Silhouettes

Magnolia

Perhaps you’re sensing a theme here: traditional silhouettes with modern materials. Stacked bubbles, rooted in the mid-century modern designs of the 1950s and ‘60s, are making a comeback—but with a rustic twist. Jo’s take on the trend infuses natural materials and finishes, specifically antique wood, which creates pieces that feel both earthy and elevated. Picture a smooth, rounded wooden accent table that begs you to run your fingers along its curves or a stacked bubble lamp that casts a warm, inviting glow in your favorite reading nook. The look effortlessly toes the line between boho and traditional, especially when combined with luxe touches like brass accents. Plus, you can use it to make a bold statement with a bubble-shaped focal piece or subtly incorporate the look through decor (like in the reclaimed wooden task lamp above). Either way, the silhouette is guaranteed to add a playful yet refined touch.

4. Landscape Murals and Tapestries

Magnolia

Landscapes have always carried a very autumnal feel, thanks to their natural scenes that often capture the beauty of fall foliage. That’s why the best artwork from her lookbook features richly textured, oversized tapestries (the one above almost doubles as a mural) and large-scale prints that bring the calm of a misty morning right into your living room. The pieces are designed to create a focal point in any room while evoking a sense of calm and connection to nature. Plus, on the styling front, you’ll want to consider hanging a bold landscape tapestry above a mantle or fireplace, so it acts as the centerpiece of your space. You could also create a gallery wall with a mix of framed prints and canvases, each telling a story of nature’s beauty. Either way, they look best when paired with rustic furniture and soft, neutral tones to let the artwork shine.

5. Antique Wooden Shelves

Magnolia

Finally, Jo has officially moved away from her signature shiplap shelving (which was all the rage in 2016). Instead, she’s embracing the charm of antique wooden shelves with beautifully weathered pieces and hand-carved details. The lookbook features a variety of styles—from narrow, wall-mounted hooks to larger, ornate wooden cabinets (as evidenced above)—and functionality is written into each design. While some feature hooks for hanging items like keys or mugs, others include doors, transforming them into mini storage units. The rich, textured wood pairs beautifully with earthy tones and cozy textiles—and they’re perfect for layering with your favorite fall decor, from candles to small pumpkins to heirloom dishes.
