I recently took a trip down memory lane at Taco Bell by tasting, reviewing and ranking the new Decades Y2K Menu from top to bottom. As dazed as I was at the prospect of eating my first Double Decker Taco in years, a pair of additional new items caught my eye as I was pulling through the drive-thru…and I had to turn back for a second order. Behold: Taco Bell’s new Cream Soda Freezes.
Review: Taco Bell’s New Cream Soda Freezes Taste Like Straight-Up Nostalgia
Orange you glad?

Available in Vanilla Cream and Orange Vanilla Cream varieties, these sippers are lightly carbonated frozen slushies that pack an ice cream-inspired punch of flavor in every drop. In Philadelphia, they cost me a little under $4 each for a regular size, although pricing and availability may vary by location.
I started off strong with the orange iteration, which ended up being my favorite. Chalk it up (in part, that is) to nostalgia, since it tastes like a Creamsicle crossed with rainbow sherbet. The orange was very subtle, while the vanilla shone through, giving orange-soda-float vibes. Both flavors melted rather quickly, already slightly separated at the bottom by the time I received them. However, I liked the silky consistency regardless, and took care to position my straw high enough in the cup to get crushed ice instead of straight liquid.

Next, I tried the plain-Jane vanilla. I was excited for this one, as I’m a lifelong vanilla lover, but it didn’t hit as hard as the citrusy number. It was, admittedly, very sweet, but hey—that’s what cream soda is famous for. In my wildest dreams, I’d love for Taco Bell to do a half vanilla cream, half cola (or root beer!) Freeze for a play on an O.G. float without requiring ice cream. This one would also pair really well with bourbon or spiced rum, if you ask me…but you do you.
The TLDR? Get these before summer officially ends later this month. Baja Blast who?
