Chili’s Margarita of the Month Is Totally ’90s *and* Delicious—Here’s an Editor’s Review

Oh, hi, Kelly Kapowski

Chili’s is beloved for its fajitas, ribs, burgers and Tex-Mex fare. But if you ask me—and VP of Editorial Candace Davison—its margaritas are just as worthy of a visit. But before you go with the classic to pair with your order of Nashville Hot Mozz, hear us out: There’s a new margarita of month hitting menus in May and it’s like, totally rad.

McDonald’s Is Launching Its First Permanent Menu Item in Years (and Our Food Editor Tasted It)

Seriously—the Radical ’Rita is available for just $6 for a limited time. It contains silver tequila, dragon fruit syrup, house-made sour mix and blue Curaçao. If you’re lucky, you’ll also receive a swizzle stick while supplies last, which you can use to stir and change the colors of your cocktail as you drink it. This throwback sipper is also being promoted by Tiffani Thiessen, best known for her roles as Kelly Kapowski on Saved by the Bell and Valerie Malone on Beverly Hills, 90210.

“There are four different ’90s-themed swizzle sticks to collect, but the real joy here is the color-change factor, thanks to a dragon fruit base and a blue Curaçao floater,” Davison explains, having tasted the drink herself.

This drink is more than kitschy, Instagram-worthy bells and whistles, though. Davison alleges that it’s genuinely tasty—and well worth the spend.

“At $6 for a drink that was half the size of my head, I anticipated it to be all sour mix, but the tequila came through on the first sip. While sweet, the drink was pretty well-mixed with a fruity vibe that feels just right as we head into summer. I love a classic, salt-rimmed marg, but this was a fun twist—and a killer deal. Plus, the color-changing effect was pretty satisfying, I must say.”

So, ready your camera and bring your appetite. You’ll need something to wash down all those chips and salsa with, right?
