When I got my order of Oreo-topped pretzel bites, I could smell them through the packaging. The creamy, chocolatey scent
wafted out of its paper-lined cup. Digging in was, in so many ways, magical. While I do like Oreos, I don't always gravitate toward them, but *this* hits different. At first glance, I wasn't sure how the flavor combination would be, but boy, was I wrong. The soft and doughy pretzels have a plain, largely savory taste to them, but when you add in a drizzle of the cookies 'n crème sauce, you get a touch of milky, creamy sweetness that melds together with the cocoa flavor of the Oreos. Because it was obviously also topped with Oreo crumbles, that added the crunch that I was craving. The mixture of texture and flavor was well balanced and I found myself scraping the bottom of the tissue lining to savor every last bite.
My only caveat? Needing more sauce. I do wish mine had a bit more of the cookies 'n crème sauce, so it might be worth asking your server (or making a note in your delivery app) for some extra on the side. It think it would add a bit more moisture into an otherwise perfect dessert.
Vice President of Editorial Content, Candace Davison, also tried the bites saying, "These pretzels are dangerously addictive, and they remind me of fried Oreos from a carnival in the very best way. They're pillowy and sweet, with that classic cocoa sandwich cookie flavor. I wasn't even hungry and found myself devouring half the container within minutes."
I can't wait to see what other imaginative toppings Auntie Anne's and Cinnabon will come out with to top this first smash hit. Maybe a hazelnut moment? Something cookie-butter covered? I guess we'll just have to wait and see...
