I inherited a lot of things from my mom that I like. A big laugh. Great enamel. Excellent executive function. But there’s one point of contention over which I never fail to facetiously torment her. And that would be…our feet. My mom wears a size 7.5 (I wear a 6), but any notions about a nice, slim foot end there. My feet are wide. Hers are wider. We both have bunions and what I have decided must be the ugliest hammer toes on the planet. Needless to say, we’re both eagle-eyed in the comfortable shoe department. But while I will compromise for comfortable heels and ballet flats, which is usually some sort of paradox, my 56-year-old-mother is well past the age of acquiescing to the demands of a fussy shoe. She lives in sneakers, flip flops and, for a period of my childhood, slides. So, when my PureWow colleagues informed me of the supposed magic of Oofos, I wondered what my mom would think of them. As an early Mother’s Day present of sorts, I sent her a pair of the brand’s OOmy Zen slip-ons ($100). Below, her flat-footed, bunion-addled review.
